On February 11th, 1999 the Montreal Lake Cree Nation held a grand opening of its new elementary school and renovation of the exhisting high schoolm which had been built in 1982 by the Montreal Lake Construction Company. The new elementary and high school is a 4,746 square meter facility which includes a nursery, kindergarten and 15 classrooms, a multipurpose room, library, gymnasium, home economics, industrial arts, science and administration, staff and health rooms.
Montreal Lake has one of the finest and up-to-date education facilities and programs in north-central Saskatchewan.
The education community center offers classes from Nursery through Grade Twelve. The education program is comprehensive and offers academic and vocational training.
Daycare service is available for the student mothers. The Daycare is also responsible for the Headstart Program
The school has two undivided sections, where the east wing is the elementary section and the west wing has the secondary section.
Hard work and determination towards this community dream made this new school facility become a reality.
